At Fine Hygienic Holding (FHH), one of the world’s leading Wellness Groups and manufacturer of hygienic paper products, employee wellness has always come first, which is why the Group has made bold new changes in line with one of its core values, “If we take care of the people, the business will take care of itself,” to ensure the care and well-being of each of its team members.
In light of the current global situation, FHH has recently launched an unprecedented new Employee Assistance Program to address an important, but largely unacknowledged, consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic—it’s potential to negatively affect mental health and wellness. The free program provides 24/7 confidential hotline counseling and support services, available in English, Arabic, French, Urdu and Hindi, from qualified psychologists to all Fine employees and their immediate family members to tackle any challenges they may face such as stress, anxiety, illness, and other problems.
Also introduced, is a new remote work policy which allows Fine employees to “Work from Anywhere.” The policy states that during normal circumstances, employees have the option to work remotely one day each week if they would like to from anywhere they choose. As circumstances change, such as with the current situation, the policy may allow for as many remote workdays as the situation requires. The flexible work arrangements of the policy may assist in reducing work-related stress, help employees to exercise adaptability and agility, and promote a more balanced well-being overall.
Speaking on the new changes, FHH CEO, James Michael Lafferty, said, “Our employees are our greatest asset; their health and wellness has always been among our top priorities, and we recognize that a big part of well-being lies in mental health. Both the Employee Assistance Program and the Work from Anywhere policy were implemented to help our employees lead a more balanced life. Our biggest goal is to support our employees, and their loved ones, as best we can. Here at Fine we are all one family, and we will always support and care for our own, through easy times and tough ones, no matter what.”
The new Employee Assistance Program and Work from Anywhere policy are only the most recent examples of Fine’s efforts to help employees build a healthy work life balance and maintain overall wellness. The Group also encourages employees to keep up their physical fitness with regular company-wide fitness challenges, as well as covers a portion of gym membership fees for all employees and has opened a state-of-the-art on-premises corporate fitness center in Dubai.
